JP Morgan Run - DynamoOn Wednesday night Dynamo entered their very first team into the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in London. The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is a 3.5 mile (5.6km) race series that is a global celebration of teamwork, camaraderie and community, providing an excellent opportunity to connect with clients and corporate neighbours whilst promoting health within the office.

The Series is formed from 13 Corporate Challenge events in seven countries across five continents. The London route looped around Battersea Park and achieved a full capacity of entrants with more than 28,000 runners from approximately 775 companies. The race is open to runners of all levels and we had a huge amount of enthusiasm from the get-go across the London Office.

In the weeks leading to the race, everyone took advantage of the great weather to dust the winter cobwebs off their trainers and get out in the sunshine for some training. The momentum continued with the arrival of our Dynamo shirts and spurred on with encouragement/mild banter from our colleagues in the South African and Nordic offices we set off to Battersea Park.

Adrian, Issy, Panos and Roy formed a small mixed team and decided to soak up the atmosphere by beginning the race together in the same wave. Panos looked very much at ease starting the race at a high pace – his training around the vineyards in Tuscany had clearly paid off and somehow, he doesn’t appear to have broken into a sweat in any of the photos. The rest of the team settled into a steady pace with headphones set aside for the much-promised entertaining running banter from Adrian.

The sunshine beaming off the Thames along the route added to the feel good factor of the race and helped to overcome the tough going parts of the course in the heat.

Image uploaded from iOS (1)We found out that the last .6 km makes a big difference on race day as we headed towards the finish line however the running endorphins kicked in and the spirit of the race meant everyone was very encouraging right to the end.

We finished the race in high spirits and we are all looking forward to the next event once our bodies return to normal body temperatures!

The team would like to say a big thank you J.P. Morgan for organising a terrific fun race and supporting to such a worthy cause, Cancer Research UK. This is the first time we have participated in this event, and it was great to see everyone taking the time out to run for a good cause. Hopefully this will be the first of many.
