Dynamo 5K Challenge 2020
25/11/20
For the past two years, we have taken part in the City vs Wharf 5K run in London. This year, as we were unable to run together, we took the run global and invited the ‘Dynamo & friends’ team to join us for a virtual run. We wanted to set the challenge to encourage everyone to take a break from the day to day, enjoy the outdoors and stretch those legs. Our mental wellbeing is more important than ever and a great way of looking after ourselves is through exercise.
As you may know, with the 5K, comes new t-shirts; they may not be as bright as previous years but are no less in demand! Clients, Dynamites and friends of Dynamo wore them with pride across the globe.
Overall, 74 runners and walkers completed the 5K challenge and for the first time in Dynamo history, dogs, babies and children also joined in with the fun. It was great to see so many people excited to get involved with this year’s challenge. In Dynamo locations, it got *quite* competitive; we have a lot of keen runners across the UK, South Africa, France and Norway which will explain the strong presence of Dynamites at the top of the leaderboard.
Jeanette was the first person to pass the virtual finish line with a time of 26 minutes and 56 seconds. For some, this became a target to beat and the competition officially started.
The challenge continued throughout the week and it was great to see pictures coming into my inbox from all participating around the globe. From sunny South Africa and Australia to the chilly conditions of Norway, Italy, France and the UK. Although we couldn’t be together physically, there was still a big buzz of excitement.
For some, it was nice to get some fresh air and go for a walk, for others it was an opportunity to run a 5K for the first time and for Louw, in our South African office, it was his time to shine. Louw completed his 5K run in an impressive time of 18 minutes 26 seconds. This goes down as the fastest Dynamite across all years that we have participated in the 5K run. Lori in our Norwegian office continues to take the title of fastest female Dynamite with another incredible time of 21 minutes 8 seconds.
A big congratulations to Jamie, who was the first client to disrupt the Dynamite trend at the top of the leaderboard and placed 6th with a time of 21 minutes 32 seconds.
Everyone did an amazing job completing the Dynamo 5K Challenge and we hope it encourages everyone to continue to take a walk or a run during the day. Thank you to all those who got involved and we look forward to running together again soon.
